About Us

Welcome to Signs of Amusement where you will find all kinds of custom themed clothing related to theme parks like Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm to other things like movies, pop culture and more, including Makers Playground, a community of makers started by Izzy Swan of YouTube fame.

Hi, I’m Jason Etzel! I founded Interactive Realm in 2002 with the goal of starting my own business creating websites. That is, to say the least, a hard business to achieve success in as there are now too many competitors and there were many more back then. So I started writing my own scripts to help others with various activities on their websites. That went well for a while, but I needed more and I needed to get away from my desk.. at least part of the day.

So long story short, I turned Interactive Realm into a woodworking company, where I created many custom and replica signs and crafts and started selling on Etsy. And then a YouTube channel to document those custom creations. But eventually, that wasn’t enough either; at the beginning of 2021, in the height of the whole COVID virus thing, I started a second YouTube channel called, Signs of Amusement. It took the love of my woodworking and sign making and merged it with my love of theme parks, specifically Disneyland.

Now there were some other things I did throughout the years, from working at an online college, where I built the online interface which housed the courses, to becoming a software developer creating custom functionality within Salesforce and NetSuite. I got to meet and becomes friends with many great YouTubers, some of which are woodworkers and others that are Disney vloggers and I even know, Disney Legend and Imagineer, Bob Gurr, whom not only created one of my favorite rides, the Peoplemover, but also (as they say) pretty much any other Disney ride or attraction that has wheels. I also have a passion for graphic design as well, which allowed me to create some great logos, including Izzy Swan’s Makers Playground, the band Fire Sets Fire, for various content creators and companies and of course, for my Interactive Realm and Signs of Amusement brands.

My graphic designing skills not only allowed me to create great logos, but also let me start a few t-shirt stores on various other platforms/sites, which did okay but the product selection and quality was just not there. After doing some more research and buying samples, I found some good quality merchandise that I could customize with my own designs and actually feel good about the products I’m selling.

That leads us to today, where Signs of Amusement, while is still an active YouTube channel, is now also this merchandise store, where I get to sell my signs and crafts and custom designed merchandise. The name fit, so why not use it, right?

Since we’re peaking talking about them, why not visit my YouTube channels and subscribe while you’re there. Together, with my friends Steve (who came up with the name, Signs of Amusement) and Jeff, we have started doing much more Disney related content on the Signs of Amusement channel, including Ride Thru Commentaries, Live Streams, and even a podcast called Discovered Magic and even food reviews with fellow YouTuber, Heyman with Jayman. I promise it will be worth your while and you never know when if a special sale or giveaway might pop up.. plus it’s free, so what do you have to lose?
